Making your pages accessible allows everyone to enjoy your web pages.
Clear, logical design, navigation, and labeling are extremely important to providing access to all viewers of your pages. The following examples are some, but not all of the recommended Web page accessibility guidelines. At the end of the page you will find a list of resources. |

Quick Tips

Images and animations Use the ALT attribute to describe the function of all visuals.

Image maps Use client-side MAP for text for hotspots

Multimedia Provide captioning or transcripts of audio and video.

Hypertext links Use descriptive link text, not "click here."

Page organization Use headings, lists, consistent structure and style sheets for layout.

Graphs and charts Summarize or use the LONGDESC attribute.

Scripts, applets, and plug-ins Provide alternative content in case active features are inaccessible.

Frames. Label with the TITLE or NAME attribute.

Tables. Make line by line reading sensible. Summarize. Avoid using tables for column layout.

Check your work. Validate HTML. Use evaluation tools and text-only browsers to verify accessibility.
